Dear Friends,
Thank you for your interest in GirlSportWorks!
Throughout our childhoods, we both benefited enormously from our experiences with organized athletics. The self-confidence, ability to work in teams, and body awareness that we developed served us with critical skills that guided us through our childhoods and into adulthood. We also knew that there were many girls outside of the United States that would never have the chance to play on teams and learn from teammates and coaches. In 2003, we set out to create this opportunity.
As seniors in college, we hoped that our vision of teaching sports to girls in Peru would take hold and indeed make a difference in our communities, but we had no idea of the legacy we would leave and the number of lives we would touch. We are delighted to report that the program has indeed been adopted into several communities and has had an extremely positive impact on hundreds of students, their families, and their schools
GSW has survived and indeed flourished in large part due to the creativity and dedication of our Project Managers. Jen and Sam, Carrie and Gill, Jane and Sarah, Claire and Sara, and Alex, Jen and Elise have made extraordinary contributions to the organization and have enabled GSW to continue to move forward with our mission. We look forward to welcoming many more inspirational, innovative Project Managers to our family in the coming years. Furthermore, our CFO, Paulette Katzenbach, has been an incredible asset to GSW since our inception in 2003. Her commitment to the organization and to our teams has made our success possible.
We are also incredibly grateful to our generous donors. Without your support, none of GSW's achievements would be possible. Thank you to all for believing in our idea and allowing it to thrive.
We hope that you share in our enthusiasm for the mission and achievements of our organization, and encourage you to take an active part in the GSW family. If you wish to get involved in any way, please contact us with ideas, suggestions, or just to say hello!
Cheers,
Becky & Sarah
